Dear Margie Received your letter yesterday. Was glad to hear from you. Well, are you all ready for Santa Claus? Won't be long now will-it? It's getting colder here, but I don't think we'll have a white Christmas. have you had any snow yet? Guess I'll spend a quiet weekend in Camp. Two weeks ago I spend the week end in Oklahoma visiting a couple of guys I know up there. Last week-end I spent in Old Mexico the 1st Sgt & a couple of these guys & myself got a 2-day pass & went over he border. Just went as far as Piedas Negras. That means Black Rock. We picked up a few tickets & took in the sights. Its a very quint old town. Just like you read about. Old house, narrow streets, sort of dirty, lots of pedallers

Then a quite a few of souvenir stores & unit shops. A lot of liquor sore too. We managed to bring back some liquor I even managed to pick up some silk stockings! Nothing is rationed over there. Yes shoes food etc. One fellow got a dam nice pair of shoes. We also filled up with gasoline. Seemed just like old times. Buying things with out stamps. We got fairly well tanked Saturday night on that Mexico whiskey.
Just enough so that we all had a luck of a good time. We sure had a lot of fun. On the way back we blew out 2 tires. Boy oh boy! Were we in a spot! Out on the Texas prairie, 32 miles from the nearest town. We didn't know what to do. We waited a while and finally a car came along. It happened to be a couple of Lts. They stopped and loaded us their spare time to get into town & then helped us locate another tire.

Ours was blown out beyond repair. They gave us a tire certificate & we got a tire. Can you imagine that! As scarce as tire certificates are, & they just gave it to us! He wouldn't take any pay, either. We had some " " gas coupons, so we gave him those. He was glad to get them. But that was pretty huh? I'll never forget that little incident. All in all, we had a swell trip though. Hope I get to take it again before too long.
The first of this week, a boil popped out on my neck. Had it all fixed up this morning. Still have a bandage on it though. It's dam unhandy. That's about all I know for now except that we still haven't heard from Bill. Hope we do soon. We got a cablegram saying that he landed safe, but Lord only knows where.
